Use them, but do not simply chop them and place them on top of your dish. First soak them in ice water, salted water, or acidulated water for a long while. I keep a jar of pickled red onions in my refrigerator.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1>Pickled Red Onions<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>1 medium red onion, sliced thinly crosswise<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 c red-wine vinegar<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 c filtered water<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 tsp coarse salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mix all ingredients together in a small, clear, mason jar.
