{"id":157,"date":"2009-10-29T08:18:27","date_gmt":"2009-10-29T08:18:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/melacey.com\/blog\/?p=157"},"modified":"2010-02-14T08:26:29","modified_gmt":"2010-02-14T08:26:29","slug":"no-fail-pastry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/melacey.com\/blog\/art\/writing\/no-fail-pastry\/","title":{"rendered":"No-fail Pastry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>TNT: Torn &#8216;N Tattered, Tried &#8216;N True, Dynamite Recipes<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<h3>No-fail Pastry<\/h3>\n<p>1 pound lard or shortening<br \/>\n5 cups flour<br \/>\n1 tsp. salt<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp. baking powder<br \/>\n4 tsp. brown sugar<br \/>\n1 egg<br \/>\n1 tbsp. vinegar<br \/>\nwater<\/p>\n<p>Combine the lard and four dry ingredients into a mixing bowl and cut together until the mixture resembles peas. (I use a mix master at slow speed.) Put egg, vinegar into an 8-ounce cup and beat together with fork. Add water to fill to 8 ounces; stir the liquid ingredients together.<\/p>\n<p>Add liquid to dry ingredients.
