Peace Work

Stop

Stop for a moment.

Listen

Listen to these words that stir you to think about what you can do or say to improve your world.  The performance motivates and perhaps prods listeners to respond; hopefully to respond in peaceful actions, every day of their life.

A good example of woman’s voice for peace.

Look

Heather Spears travelled to war-torn areas and used her drawing skills to illustrate the devastating effects upon the children.

iktamal
Iktamal, a four-year-old boy was killed by a grenade that was dropped from an Israeli helicopter while playing near Tayasir on the West Bank. This image was drawn by Heather Spears and published in Drawn from the Fire as part of the Children of the Intifada. Published in Artists for Peace, 2004.

Specializing in drawing premature and other threatened infants, Heather Spears has traveled to hospitals in the Middle East, Europe and America.  She is a good example of a woman using her talent for peace.

Contemplate

If others can use their skills for peace, you can too.

Respond

Create a piece of work that focuses on how you can enhance peace in your life and how you can extend that peace to your local community and then extend it  globally.  Consider contributing to Blue Grama’s artists for peace serial.
