George Androkovich
George Androkovich is a welder. He began welding in high school and has been welding ever since—at work in his shop, Off-Road Canada since 1972, as he professionally crafts, repairs, builds and services vehicles specializing in the off-road vehicle. When not at work, he will play creatively, once again welding: designing and tooling using various metals (copper, brass, mild steel, stainless steel, etc.) making a wide variety of metal sculptures. George taught welding at college and now passes his skill onto his employees. George is “crazy” passionate about welding.
My company, Blue Grama is proud to provide business cards for Off-Road Canada employees. The logo had been created by George and was used on business cards for years. I created a vector form of the logo and used colour to suit each of the major employees. When it comes to deciding colour, I often rely on current colour fashion to change things up and “go with the flow” of currently used colours in the design world. Here, I’ve employed the blues: Blue Curacao from Spring 2011 with Deep Teal for Fall 2011.
Another personnel had chosen blue for their card. There are so many variations of blue, that both can be blue and still different.
Off Off-Road Time
“Off Off-Road Time” is a copper sculpture time piece fashioned from sheets of copper cut with tin snips, shaped and welded then painted by torching through his custom-designed templates and baking body paint as well as scored with various grinding tools.
The piece can be hung vertically or horizontally.
This piece is one of George’s early works; it hangs at the Off-Road Canada shop.
