Digital Object Identifier (DOI)

The DOI system provides a means to manage information via digital networks.

The International DOI Foundation (IDF) provides information on the DOI system and its activities. This system provides a technical and social infrastructure for the registration and use of persistent, interoperable identifiers employed on digital networks.

IDF is the governance and management body for the federation of Registration Agencies providing DOI services and registration; IDF is the registration authority for the ISO standard (ISO 26324) for the DOI system.

Information on the DOI system, the DOI Handbook, FAQs and Factsheets are available on the DOI website.

Linked Content Coalition (LCC)

A technical infrastructure to enable potentially seamless communication of rights information about rights holders by and for computers and end users, is not without problems, but a great deal can be done to create data network/s that suit/s digital needs and capabilities and improve communication and contact between users and providers. A cross-media coalition of experts (authors, artists, working together through standards bodies) are coordinating automated communications that address major challenges of global digital content: (1) how to assert ownership of online  inter-media content (text, images/visuals, music/audio, film/audio-visuals) (rights holders) and (2) how to communicate copyright terms and conditions for those who wish to use content (end users).

Background and other LCC information is available on the LCC website.
