VCards are “virtual business cards”. I haven’t experienced much use of them despite the fact that contact information can be easily updated and disseminated with their use, saving a lot of time and address book currency/accuracy. VCards can be used for name, location, phone numbers, URLs, logos, photographs, audio clips and email changes or additions in one record for both your personal and business contact information. Most people today have multiple email addresses and the need to clarify the addresses can be time-consuming. VCards simplify clarifying the email addresses as you can list your recipient addresses in the order that you prefer their use and even make notes for your reader to clarify the information (such as “Use Canadian location information in the summer and Arizona information in the winter months”). VCard format easily provides personal iconography and background images enhancing visual recognition of you and your business.
Despite technological enhancements, our digital world is steeped with security issues. VCard files cannot be uploaded to many servers or attached to email messages for security reasons. As a result, one cannot easily share them online and our company is researching how they can be employed in a secure manner.
