- 3 tbsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp ginger
- 2 tsp nutmeg
- 1½ tsp allspice
- 1½ tsp cloves (opt.)
- 1 tsp mace (opt.)
The cloves and mace are optional. Some people find cloves overwhelming. Personally, I like both cloves and mace and always use it in my spice mix. I make a batch every Thanksgiving and gift a container full to my daughter who loves to spice her coffee with pumpkin spice.
Other uses:
- Use with sugar to spice toast or for streusel topping.
- Flavour pies, bread, cookies, cakes, sweet potatoes, or squash.
- Spice oatmeal, yogurt, or latte.
Toast spices before grinding; create moments of forever.
In this recipe, I toast whole allspice berries, cinnamon stick, whole nutmeg, and whole cloves before grinding. I use prepared ground ginger and mace.
