I’m posting a couple YouTube videos and a link to a YouTube video to illustrate what a musical talent Canadian singer/songwriter Theresa Sokyrka is. I hope you’ll adore her as I do. If you like smooth, calm songs sung with a smoky tone, you’ll adore Theresa. If you don’t mind listening to music where you can appreciate the singer “feeling” the music, you will respect her personal style. Theresa Sokyrka’s smoky personal tone evokes emotion and soul; you can feel her singing.
I’m pleased to announce that Theresa will be performing in Lethbridge on Sunday, Sept. 4 and in the East Kootenay area (Chef Bernard’s, Kimberley BC) on Monday, Sept. 5. An alternate Lethbridge venue to the now closed Tongue n Groove is currently being sought.
Something is Expected
Something is Expected is an adult alternative album of all original music, showcasing Theresa’s beautiful vocals and skilled song writing. The album’s first single, “Waiting Song” was featured in a Falcon Beach episode and in an Anita Doron directed video that was shot in Costa Rica.
Here is the song featured on the episode of Falcon Beach:

Waiting Song lyrics
I wonder if I cheated all the things
that have been mistreated in your life.
And maybe I just planted a view
that could’ve been quite slanted, how can I win?
You travel more than me and have seen
so many things I’ve seen and so much more.
I feel the need to follow only for the words
I swallowed if I ever believed.
[Chorus:]
And you’re waiting by the door.
And I can see from a mile away
your roots have thorns.
And you’re waiting by the door.
I’ll probably never be to as many places
I’ve seen in my mind.
And I know that if I sit here and grin
then maybe it’ll be all right.
Though I know my story will go well
with all your glory, I feel it just the same.
I realize, I never really knew about that anyway.
[Chorus:]
And you’re waiting by the door.
And I can see from a mile away
your roots have thorns.
And you’re waiting by the door.

Don’t think about pigeon-holing Theresa’s music for she sings folk, rock, jazz and pop. She is now busy singing, song writing and performing in Canada.
